Dragonette – New Video, North American tour dates, and a remix we love.

Things are busy here at Dragonette HQ! We have finally finished our album, and are quite excited to share it with you this fall. While we make you wait (we’re mean like that!) here’s three things that we hope will make you happy.

FIRST OF ALL
Do you love Travolta? Cowboy hats? Dragonette? together?

Well you’re in luck people, because our friend Lo (she with the digital scissor hands) mixed up this little cocktail of our new song “Gone Too Far” and one of the finest moments in cinema history. Cause she crazy like that. And she effing LOVES Travolta.

AND FINALLY!
To round out the trifecta, here is a mix of “Fixin To Thrill” that we found on the internet, and we love. It’s by a fellow named Jocks (who used to be in Good Books and was nice enough to let us include it in this mailer) and it makes us recall the dreamiest goodness of Orbital and everything else that makes you want to float on. For some reason it got a little overlooked by the more bangin’ mixes and it makes us sad. Help us out in changing that.

Here is a zshare link to it:

Things are really blowing up for Dragonette in little old Australia!

Stuart Price, aka Jacques Lu Cont, returns with new Zoot Woman Album

Fresh off his number 1 remix for Sneaky Sound System and production duties for The Killers and Frankmusik records, the man of a million monikers (including Thin White Duke, Paper Faces, Les Rythmes and Jacques Lu Cont among others), Stuart Price, is back with his band Zoot Woman.
Inactive since the electroclash band’s 2003 self-titled LP, the return of Zoot Woman has been a long time coming, with scattered bits of material here and there hinting at their imminent return. Fans will get the Zoot Woman experience when the new incarnation of the group (Price’s role has become strictly production-based) debuts its new album, Things Are What They Used To Be, this September through US!

Check out the video for the album’s lead single, We Won’t Break, in the clip below.

VALERIE & FRIENDS Australian Tour Featuring Russ Chimes

Valerie & Friends

To chime in the new release of Valerie & Friends, British DJ/producer Russ Chimes heads down under on a national tour (of the same name) in August.

Blending eighties synth hooks with lush composition, Russ Chimes is sure to set the mood on the dance floor. Enjoying significant blog attention for his own tracks including ‘Daytona’ featured on the Valerie & Friends LP, Chimes has also knocked out stellar remixes for the likes of Sam Sparro, Chromeo, The Golden Filter and Heads We Dance as well as Frankmusik (Confusion Girl) recently touted as Alex Metric’s current favourite track on Pete Tong’s BBC1 radio show (12/06/09).

Don’t miss Russ Chimes as he celebrates the release of French retro-futuristic brat pack’s LP, Valerie & Friends.

Valerie & Friends

WHO IS VALERIE?

The woman that Amy Winehouse sings about? A French artist collective? A blog? Or all three …

WHO ARE VALERIE?

VALERIE consists of a group of like-minded musicians from Nantes, France, who run a blog founded and run by Collage. Their members: ANORAAK, COLLEGE, MAETHELVIN, MINITEL ROSE, THE OUTRUNNERS, and RUSS CHIMES. Each artist develop its own thing, follows his own path as Valerie sees itself as a free creative platform and not a label.  Together and separately, they pay homage to the dreamier aspects of eighties music, digging up forgotten synth-pop classics, and making a few new ones themselves. They combine the streetwise edge of Ed Banger with the nü-disco stylings of Institubes and the classic production values of the first wave of ‘French touch.’

WHO ARE VALERIE’S FRIENDS?

VALERIE have been running their blog for over two years, the aim here is not to find the latest unreleased track from the latest hype, but to bring into the light musicians who share the same artistic vision and define the boundaries of a new emerging scene.  During that time, Valerie has helped expose new music from exciting artists such as DVAS, FUTURECOP!, JUPITER, LOOSE SHUS, NARCTRAX, and STEVE MOORE. Whilst these artists are not part of VALERIE, they’ve helped make VALERIE the tastemakers they are today.

WHAT DO THEY SOUND LIKE?

Like JOHN CARPENTER on a disco rampage, setting his monsters onto unsuspecting dancefloors. Like TANGERINE DREAM with an electro twist to get the kids dancing. Like M83 stripped of feedback and shoegaze pretension. Like ALAN BRAXE & FRED FALKE with a nasty twist. Like the soundtrack to every so-bad-it’s-good eighties teen movie you ever saw, only better …

GET TO KNOW VALERIE

You can get to know VALERIE through their blog, http://valeriecherie.blogspot.com.

VALERIE AND FRIENDS, the collective’s first compilation, is released on ESR and BANDROOM RECORDS on MAY 29, 2009.

This compilation features exclusive tracks from all the official members of the crew as well as a selection of guest artists from around the world who they have met and befriended along the way.
